Hello Shehariah,
After reading through your poems I felt compelled to leave a comment here. I would just like to say that there are only two other pieces of work that has touched me the way they have...Tracy Chapman's "Remember the Tinman" and Andrew Solomon's description of depression in the "Noonday Demon".
They are eloquent and has such clarity. It is as though you have unknotted my every thought and emotion and rolled the yarn into a perfectly formed sphere. I feel and relate to every word.
Thank you!?
(I am sorry for all you have had to endure)

I don't know but I feel like I have to say this: don't beat yourself up.
it's a lie that happiness, joy, love, health, pleasantness, satisfaction, sanity etc. come from the inside. It's a combination of yourself, your environment and beyond. Take heart

Thanks Greg. Yes, it took several weeks to write, and it’s taken me 35 years to get my eyewitness account down in writing, but I’ve included everything I remember about that day and tried not to embellish the story like I usually do!

Good point re climate. I lived in Dentdale for a couple of years, and that had more weather than scenery.
I also lived in Caton for a while. Lunesdale is rather special.

? Nice one D. I like your comment too. I may have to borrow "holy terror" which sounds like a great potential poem title.

Hi Flavia, I've just seen your comment on this one. Thanks so much for reading. ?
Lockdown has been a test of many relationships; romantic and friendships alike. It's been interesting and equally heart-warming and heart-breaking to see who stuck around and who evaporated.

Blimey, Tim, what a poem. What a story. I'll leave it to others to draw conclusions. But a cautionary tale, to say the least.

It's a delight to hear this, Kevin. The media... oh! the media. I think taking a break from the media is the best thing we can do to preserve our sanity. I currently reside in India, and the media here reeks of poison. As good as it is to be "woke" all the time, a detox every now and then is essential too!

I expect most poets have written a lot more during lockdown and recently. I wrote a poem a day during April all on a covid theme, but it would take a lot of perseverance to continue up until now. It doesn’t surprise me to hear that Nick Toczek has achieved it though because I’ve known him over many years, and he is unstoppably prolific!

perhaps falling from grace is just as natural as the autumn leaves being shed by the trees. it reminds me of the melancholy of "the sun also rises" by Ernest Hemingway. and that's a compliment!

You're most welcome Shifa ?. Coming back on the poem: At the start of covid I left social media and during the summer I left regular media (the news) as well. If there's anything important I'll usually find out within a few days ("haven't you heard?"). ? And no, it's not a sin!

Hey Tom. I'm new to your poetry. This poem reminds me of a woman I used to love. We used to walk the dunes and beaches for hours. Two daydreamers washed upon the shores. Well she was looking for someone to father her son and still half-tied to her ex boyfriend. It never worked but I'm glad we're still friends.
The poem speaks of your deep love for the waters. And it's very personal and emotional and well expressed. I also really like the Why Poems on your profile page. Think I'm a fan!
