Good piece Jason.

I completely understand the reasons for migration...I myself am an internal migrant as I re-located from West London to Worcester to improve my quality of life, which I was perfectly entitled to do as it was within the UK.

But there are migrants and migrants. The poor refugees get to the first safe country; the rich ones feel they have a right to choose their new country.

Sorry to hear that Brian Carter was overlooked, MC. But George the Poet's rejection of a gong - I believe Benjamin Zephaniah turned down a similar offer on similar grounds more than a decade earlier - raises an important point. The name of these awards really needs to be changed! After all, we don't have an empire any more. Has no one noticed that? Give them a sensible, inclusive name that everyone can relate to and rally round ... how's that for an idea?

I just think of a multi-gifted individual like the late Brian Carter,
author of memorable books like "Black Fox Running" and "Jack",
poet, artist and champion of wildlife in his life and his articles for a
West Country Newspaper - and recall how the recommendation for
an honour in his lifetime was ignored. He took it with grace and
good humour. But his work lives on.in what he left behind.

Hi Stuart! I haven't been much on WOL lately but I logged in to tell you that I ran across your analysis of the Howl, it was you wasn't it? And I loved it! I'm a big fan of Ginsberg's and the beat generation; in fact I'm currently reading "On The Road" as well as a huge volume of Ginsberg's poems and I'm loving them! Great job on that analysis and on the poem!
Thank you?

Sound thoughts, MC and P.O.
This election is like no other I have ever seen, The issue of Brexit has cut through traditional partisan loyalties like no other before it. Traditional Labour seats look vulnerable to the “Conservative/Brexit” alliance, Tory seats could fall to Lib Dem’s in Remain voting areas. The phenomenon of tactical voting is likely to affect once solid constituencies.
My dissertation over 40 years ago was a study in psephology in my own constituency of Ashfield, where the outcome was bi-partisan and predictable. It won’t be now.
Exciting times.

Good decision!!

For justice is fair, brighter than sun
Mercy is better, brighter still

As sacrificing one self inorder to save others
So mercy is always better than justice.

Forgiveness isn't easy, but when it does enter our heart, it gives first peace to our soul n ourselves and then this peace spreads from within to outer realms, the world at large.

Po, what you just said reminded me of this I once saw:

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life:

“A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.

“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil–he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.”

He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you–and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf will win?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

We are the keepers to our lives. Every action has a reaction...

Love myself sans him
It's not even possible in imagination
I ain't feeling bad to loving him
Cos it's the best thing ever happened to me
The love, trust, honesty and a prayer come true
A friend for life i found in you
A lover right with deep insight
The qualities i seek was within my reach
I fell for you so beautifully
I love this sickness of separation growing in me
This love for you is beautiful even if separation makes me sick
I ain't in the least wanting never to have it experienced
Only wishing for us to be together till eternity

I recall that it was WSC who remarked that democracy wasn't perfect but it was preferable to all the alternatives on offer.
Voting is a personal choice but it should be an informed one as far
as humanly possible. Too many are ignorant of what has gone before and what is faced in the future and both need proper consideration above and beyond just the "I like him/her" term of
reference. Politics is no game for saints and those with one foot
in the gutter and the awareness of how life is and can be are likely to be of
more use to improving its reality than the high-minded dreamers and despisers.
