Thanks Hannah, you may well be right. It is sad when people reveal themselves in this way.

I like the concept of this poem very much. I think it would be interesting to see how you could play with the image of that perfect circle shifting into something else, as the axis of the Earth suddenly shifts. Almost, in a way, like the breaking of glass.

Thank you for your comment Don
I like the way you rhyme
The jug part 2 to be continued
I will finish in due time

Lately I write straight off the cuff
The WOL is my word of cloud
Scribble, doodle, thinking Don
What words can me ...proud

But for now straight in from work
I will have to cook me tea
So once again I thank you Don
For your comment and repartee

Interestingly you didn't mention kilts John which have never been in fashion except at weddings and committee rooms. As for the rest they passed the twat test as reported. I look cool in everything but I wouldn't expect anybody to agree. A real good enjoyable romp .

Hello Don. Thank you for commenting on my poem.
I think we're all developing all the time as poets. I cringe at my early stuff but it was all part of a process or an ascent, to use your analogy - though I'm not sure I'll ever make it to where I'd like to be.
I used to live in Ausyralia. It's a beautiful country. You'll have to open an open mic night there! If you don't already go to one!

The irony, MC, is that I am the least fashion conscious person I know (and always have been). Although I do confess to having worn printed shirts and kipper ties.

Awwww thank you everyone. Its been a long time since I posted anything. That ugly little word 'work' got in the way, along with contentment which is even more destructive to your muse!

I wrote this on the train home after scrolling thro FB after a drunken night out. FB never ceases to baffle me.

There will come a time when I post again - hopefully before I cock my toes up! Now I shall endeavour to read some poetry ?

This has been 'floating around my head' for years. Today, it wanted OUT! Ergo - here it is. Kind of a birthday gift to myself, I think.
And why not? All that 'Libra' stuff, you know. Who can say? The world goes round on 'maybe'' and 'perhaps' and 'possible'.

JC -
this surely brought back a few memories for some WOL readers.
I spent much of my working life In a uniform and when out of it,
I relied on the old adage: style never goes out of fashion.
I even loathed "flares" and stayed with what would be disparaging
referred to nowadays as old fart's fashions. But the need to be a
Beau Brummel type was never a motivator in my dress sense
(should I explain for a modern young audience that the phrase
does not refer to cross-dressing?!). A button-down collar Ben
Sherman shirt was about as close to trendy wear as I ever got.
Moral: Good taste never goes out of fashion. ?

A thought: perhaps it is too important a subject not to take literally.
Even more so in an age when the search for reasons (excuses?)
for so many abuses of basic common consideration occur and the
tendency to say "It's only because...(fill in the gaps)" has become
so frequent as part of society's general shrinking from the reality of
beastly (apologies to our dumb friends) behaviour in the ranks of
"intelligent" humanity. Real remorse doesn't require a catalogue
of lawbreaking to see it happen.

It's a bit like being hooked on chemo,
There's always those who love to demo!
Not to worry about the "cause"
With pious posing that says "up yours"!
Someone's war or someone's "rights" -
There's always something in their sights;
CND - remember that?
Far from Russia and its Commissariat.
Or North Korea - run by mad hatters
But where such protest really matters!
But if arrests are to be had
Better where things aren't that bad!
………………………………………………..?

I learnt it all at school
Plus times nought is hundred
Dat's da golden rule

Hundred minus nuffing
Brings us back to nought
See, I am an expert Ruth

No ports (I getting tired)
Hundred times by nuffing

Work just off the cuff
Will it go on more Phil
Or is this write enuff?

Kate is all a'wondering
How this will pan out
Will the jug become a pan?
You've left us all in doubt

As for myself you've left me
Feeling all perplexed
I've asked my friend, explain Phil's stuff
(He's answered back in text)

(But I'm still perplexed.....) ?

So in other words 'they' support demonstrations so long as it is ineffective. Anyway how much are people effected by traffic?
Children crushed to death
Children thrown through windscreens
Children's lungs filled with toxic gass
all OK so as long as big boys don't have to wait 15 minutes fo a bus
or drive down a different road.

It's strange and more than a little bit surreal the way people 'live on' in their digital lives even after they've left us. I wonder if people felt equally creeped out by photographs of loved ones back when photography was new to the world?
