An enjoyable read this one, reflections in the rain, mirrors, memories, -mists, where would be without them chugging away at our thoughts. ?

Belinda - you ask for comments but haven't made clear if they should be posted here on WOL or on your creative writing website.

Also, do you want comment on the sentiment expressed, the quality of the poetry, or something else? And are you prepared for complete honesty from commenters?

And I must say to this...
Why?
It happens one day
Totally out of the blue.
I came to realize
A poet inside grew.
But life as a poet
Is but a lonely fate.
Your heart on your sleeve
Will make you, sure bait.
So why do I continue
To put these words down?
For my yearning desire
In my soul is deep down.
Yes someone is reading.....?

Nice one! Cubism was totally innovative then, and very difficult to paint. I prefer the later style, like 'the Farmer's wife', 'Crying woman', 'The fishermen' etc.

Tripped over/up yourself
Cos writing this 'ere poem
You've done something thyself

I picture you exhausted
After creating this
But thankyou for your effort

Sure that's you in the vid John? Doesn't look anything like that WOL guy (giving praise to the sky?)

You now need to go to the next step and make a frypan guitar (despite a holey one - could add unique tonal qualities?).
You've already got a neck (the pan). Maybe some kitchen twine for strings? Then put this to good use by twanging a tuneful melody to help bonding back to Gert.

Sorted......

Though Jack and Jill

go up the hill

Though Jack and Jill

Don Matthews will
use his mad skill
to make them wheel
and roll downhill!
Isn't it about time
We upgraded that rhyme?
So do go on!

Thank you ?

Megan - I have a problem with this. Write Out Loud is a poetry site and this is not a poem. It is one long monologue which goes on and on and on which after the first few lines I couldn't be bothered with.

Having said that I like your attitudes. Try new things, get out of your comfort zone. Just post poems. It is not a site for story telling.

Boats have oars not ores
responsability - spelling
believes - don't you mean beliefs?
condacenting - spelling
influnece - what is this??
becuase - spelling
unision - spelling
finantially - spelling
havn't - spelling
conquored - spelling
sabatauge - spelling
defiine - spelling

Playing large Megan is fine but you have to play it correct otherwise people will not take any notice of you. E.g. don't post errors like this, and not long monologues on a poetry site.

You have good ideas - use them well......

Thank you dear Jason! I'm enjoying the process!
Dear Don! I tried to make it rhyme after I'd finished but it was very difficult to do it and at the same time keep it from losing its strength and meaning which came in that fateful epiphany-type manner. You don't mess with that! Plus, the verse with the song which is the only part that rhymes would have had no effect at all! Plus, plus, I'm not the awesome rhyner that is Don Matthews! ?
Thank you both! ?

Hi Lisa,

Congratulations on POTW!

A note of sadness here as well? The diner not managing to communicate the thing that's missing; eating lots alone, getting home alone? Is Happy Tuesday what the restaurant does to attract Tuesday traffic – good deal on burritos that night?

And "los muertos" – who are they and what do they signify?

For me, this is full of enigma and I really enjoyed it.

I am so sad to hear this news. Dave was hugely talented and such a lovely person. I first met him when I interviewed him back in the early 80s when he led the Dudley Arts Umbrella and I was doing a project for an A level I was doing at night school, and knew him as a friend thereafter. I shall treasure his poetry and music, and his smile. I cannot make the celebration of his life tomorrow, but I give my heartfelt condolences to his family, and will remember him x

Was it Bette Davis (or maybe Joan Crawford?) who observed that
old age ain't for sissies? I have the feeling that in making my
leisurely way towards 76, I have as much right to discuss the
subject as anyone - and probably more than most on WOL - and.
will offer assurance that possessing a sense of humour is a great plus towards looking after number one in later life.

Thanks for coming through David. I'm glad you looked into it, and to be honest I didn't have a plan, but liked the idea of it, and perhaps the thing behind it is the unreachable elements of life and the inevitable question is there a God that remains out of the picture for some and apparently all seeing for others, the ice being the division some may feel about it. Yours is an interesting take; we are a bit like sea urchins with so many sensors that one may brush past like a fish and activate the whole person. That in itself is a fairly ghostly concept (at least today). Medication time obviously or the coat.
