I see town foxes right here in the centre of the capital...trotting along with a certain
attitude. This poem uses an increasingly
familiar sight to remind us of the real essence
of the human condition and its responsibility to others at this time. A thought-provoking
use of the imaginary questions that might cross the borders between species in near
proximity and increasing familiarity.

Many thanks for your comments Larisa - I've just invested in a new audio recording set up, so will hope to add readings of many more poems soon - maybe even some songs once I have become familiar with all the adjustments!
Best wishes for your two xmas celebrations! Dave

Thanks for your comments on "In the Bleak Mid-Winter".
I'm re-reading Bernard Cornwell's "Stonehenge" from which I virtually plagiaried this. It's absorbing and inspirational.

Hi Neil. Thank you for your kind comments on my poem "He Didn't Care". At the suggestion of John Coopey I have posted a second poem "He Didn't Care Too".
Yes the illustrations are mine. I love this site because I can add my own drawings and audio(If I take the time to record it).
Your poem "Tough Love" is very accurate. I too care but let the everyday matters get me down.
Thanks Again,
Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Thanks to all at the Middleton open mike especially Gemma for the wonderful buffet and the way she always performs, full of laughs, so professional. I used to be a miserable old sod, but now with all my new found friends at the Ring O Bells,I feel like a born again Ebenezer.
like Tiny Tim said.
"It's bleedin cold in 'ere" but with a bit of luck, I might die before I need to get up for a piss.
Have a great Humbug. Ken.

Nick thank you for your kind comments on my poem "He Didn't Care."

Thank you for your nice comments on my illustrations. I love this site. I can add my on drawings, and audio if I have it recorded, to my poems.
I took the advice of John Coopey and wrote a second poem, "He Didn't Care Too."

Hi Andy. Thanks so much for the kind comments on my poem, "He Didn't Care."
My husband says that some of my poetry is to dark but he likes this one.
I do tend to go for death and beyond poetry.
I took the advice of John Coopey and wrote a second poem entitled, "He Didn't Care Too."
Thanks again.

Hi Isobel. Thank you for your nice comments on my poem "He Didn't Care."
The story I had in mind is that his wife knew he loved her very much. But he was in shock and his family and friends couldn't see this.
I took the advice of John Coopey and wrote a second poem entitled "He Didn't Care Too."
Thanks again.

Thank you, dear Dave, for the explanation. I chose "along". With love and warmest wishes, Larisa
PS Yes, we celebrate Christmas later according to Russian Orthodox calender, but I celebrate it twice. My father was from Russia and my mother's ancestors were from Poland. My mother's surname was Adamska and I was baptized in a Greek Catholic church. So, I am so lucky to have two Christmas holidays.

Enjoyed this. I think I understood most of it. The Front Room = Standard English and the back rooms are where dialects, everyday speech are spoken. That's a great metaphor. What I didn't get was the repetition of the variations on nowhere to display.

Thanks for commenting on 'Around All Our Tables', my response is also shown on the poem's page so that it can make sense to anyone who wishes to see it in context. :)
To answer your query, you can choose to use 'up' instead of 'down', or even 'along', though it is rather more usual for similar phrases to use 'down'.
Big hugs for you my friend, and a Merry Christmas (perhaps you celebrate it later as in the Russian Orthodox calender?)
Take care, Dave

We had a front room with a huge bay window looking out into the world, or if the world look in on
us they would see perfection. No,we lived in the dingy smaller back parlour looking out on to a yard, very private. Enjoyed this poem Steven thankfully today I enjoy the view.

Thanks Dave - you are on the money with the typo - now amended. Put it down to fat fingers and two similar letters being side by side on the keyboard -
plus a bleary-eyed early hours entry!
But glad you enjoyed the poem. It is one I
have a personal affection for because I see the
content as timeless in the human condition at a
special time of year.
Compliments of the Season to you!

You manage to get this just right - without making it tacky or crude. I've run the idea over in my head, wondering if I could make the same idea work with a man - but think I'll give up before I start :) A pube clipping roll up takes some imagination Ray! xx

Nice poem, Dave! The only line I can't accept: "as they traverse down this life's road". Why down? Why not up? Is it just English language? I always thought that with each coming year we are going higher and higher. So, why not to say "up the road"?
With warmest wishes, Larisa xxx

I really love that poem Nigel - especially the beginning and end - 'Misery is a cross' and 'Christmas is an early spring towards happiness' - beautiful :) You need a little punctuation in the middle to aid reading but perhaps you are not a fan of punctuation.
You should get yourself a profile and start blogging.
