Hello Isobel, thank you for your always welcome comments. Have been awash with work for ages now and when not, no inspiration at all. Have been watching WOL a lot though. Have got a few days off now so will have a good trawl through the recent stuff. The two pieces that I put on today have been bubbling under but not tidied up until today. Regards, as always. Always like reading your work and will comment this week.

I like this one too. As Darren says, there is a depth and a deceptive simplicity that works.

As with much of your poetry, there is a depth to this piece. Particularly like the line 'someday the borders of our distance shall collide'.
I think you need to replace 'you're' with 'your' to avoid anal types becoming agitated? Unless of course you're saying 'for you are timing' in which case just ignore me. I enjoy reading what you write. DT

Awww - poor you! I'm sure John Coopey could recommend some 'foot' therapy that might make you feel better...
As ever, a fun read! My offspring just make off with all my dosh. I might as well just hand over the cashpoint card, the house, the socks, the lot - then walk barefoot off into the distance...
Thanks for taking part. I was just putting a list together when this one popped up on tags. Cut off date is tomorrow if anyone else fancies doing a foot/shoe poem... xx

Yes indeed Greg. We certainly wouldn't have words like "defensive", "indiscipline" and "congestion"! Nor probably a unique class system which pre-dates the Marxian concept of an industrial one.
And indeed, probably not one John COOPEY (couper = to cut).

Well thanks for this Kath it certaqinly pulls no punches but importantly does not feel sorry for itself and reads refelctively which is its strength. A line went through my head as I read it 'numb heroes in wet bedsheets' somethin I imagined from the POV of the victim. A brave entry.

hey, thanks for the feedback guys :)
Cadacus, you are right in thinking this is a first draft - it's one of those i have a fondness for and so will probably end up with something stupid like ten drafts.
no to red like denial? fair enough. what sort of thing would it be better substituted with? a different simile or get rid altogether?
and Andy, i doubt very much that there will be a further...the large proportion of my poetry is character-based, so often a character gets written about once then left, but i do treasure them all :) especially the character from Sugar, i love her a bit too much for my own poetry xD
and yes, you're right, fields of blood is a little cliché, which normally i try to avoid, but i really couldn't think of an alternative. i wanted the red, but a painful red and something physical to embody pain, and blood was pretty much the only thing that sprung to mind ^^;

I know what you mean about susan boyle, but when I heard Wild Horses on the radio I thought it was joss stone or somebody, not some old bat (sorry - did I say old bat -oops)
anyway, the point is, without knowing who it was, I was amazed. As for Paulino - well, you'r entitled to your opnion - it's not cause he's just a bit of eye-candy is it ?? Noooo.
I mean, I like Jen. Lopez, but I wouldn't say she's the world's greatest singer :)
