That's so true about life and nature, good luck meeting the neurosurgeon, thanks.

I will have a look later. My twentieth book is out. Extracts are on here. It is called June Joie De Vivre. I like the title. I write all the time. Every month I divide my poems into books. Four for June. I am doing a 12 poem calender at the end of the year. Actually I might do it today, with pictures added. It will be difficult to chose the best 12 poems...
Thanks for reading...
Jules. I am gigging in Dunoon in Argyll next Wednesday.

Your story reminded me on the one about a bloke who went to the doctor with a frog stuck out of his forehead.
The doctor says, "Wow. That's ugly. How did it start?"
And the frog says "It all started with a boil on my bum."
(It was better when we were allowed to do Irish jokes).

Reminds me of that old feminist-medical joke John:
Q: "What's the correct term for the useless piece of skin at the end of a penis?"
A: "A bloke!"

thanks cynthia, you are absolutely right, i hadnt noticed the 'we'll' mistake. Its a compliment to me that you appreciate the language here. I like to write with reference to the bible, and it does make me laugh that i can use it to justify any one of my resentments ;) any archaic language adds weight to a subject i find and im glad you like what I try to make as a contemporary twist. afterall, biblical society was as immoral as any other and while it seems to me nothing has changed, the line 'casting our eyes for one decent man still alive' refers to a search for christ by those who seek his love and those who wish to crush it. sometimes i fear this search is a naivity...i like to write about the things that attempt to destroy my faith, such as the very thing it is meant to be based upon, love.

I don't comment on a lot of poetry. I don't know enough about poetry to make a lot of comments.
But I like this poem. It conjures up not only raw emotions but the physical pain that comes with addictions.
Good writing

It seems my emails aren't reaching you either.
We've not been at Sandbar since April, I'd mentioned that when I last emailed you, we're at An Outlet now, and looking to move to the Seven Oaks in the near future.
The May and June shows have been and passed. With me not hearing from you I wasn't sure you'd got the details RE the change of dates/venues and had to get a replacement.
If you'd be interested in reading poetry as part of our OpenMind festival at our OpenMind:OpenVoice poetry evening it's going to be at An Outlet on Dale Street, Manchester on 12th August from 6pm - 10pm with many top poets from across the country taking part. Let me know if you can make it and I'll put you on the guest list.

Rachel, I like this a lot. I haven't read your response yet. For me, this work swirls around with deft words and many allusions, often slightly skewed but maybe more apt for being 'different'. You have a talent for twisting words into new relationships with other words, a major poetic skill that cannot be taught.
Check your last line for 'we'll' (we will) as it is a shame to have this nuisance error at the very end, to diminish its power. I do know that GBS did what he liked with contractions, but I don't think this one is worth it.

On Sunday we were treated to fifteen minutes of 'The Nearly Dead Poets', a trio who managed to be both fantastically silly and deeply profound at the same time!
In addition to such a great guest slot, we also had two wonderful new poets performing, one for the first time EVER. Huge congratulations to Charlotte and Pete. Not only did you do it, you both did it well too.
There were NO 'Areas For Improvement' in the feedback book, so here's just the 'Good Points': Usual great variety and support, Nice folk no joke nice cake not fake I'll come again 'cause I'm not vain, Des Lexic etc, Wonderful, All great, Great stuff again, Fantastic range, Very supportive, Variety, Good poetry and good company, Good atmosphere.
See you next month with guest James!

Hehehe. We all (well, those of us who are hooked anyway) use facebook differently. I have friends (real face to face ones) who have over 600 "friends" on their facebook. There's no way they'd notice one or two falling by the wayside which feels to me an odd definition of friend. Just playing with the discrepancy.

Top stuff, Rach..
Not 100% sure about 'For this is how it is
And how it always was' as it could be slowing down the action in the build up to the piece.
However, the last stanza is a corker and it's a cracking piece either way.
Keep em coming (thought you had stopped writing for a bit but i knew they would start flowing naturally) x

Really enjoyed this Charlotte, but i'm in the same boat as Antony here with the 'Red like Denial' bit as it is perhaps a little over-done... However, there is some really good stuff in this for example 'From sunset to the first shards of sunlight' because of shards.
i would like to know more about the main character however - whether this would be a longer piece or a series of pieces, i'm not sure but i would like to know more..
Keep em coming. A x

Christ - it makes you wonder what's happened in the world -- everybody should rage against this death of empathy, and responsibility for the care of those who gave us what we have, and above all, the horrible lack of well-deserved respect -- something missing from society in general.
PS - I'm only a year or so younger than Jenny, and I was slammed in a 'geriatric' ward after an illness a few years ago -- I know what she must be feeling.
Correction -- I can sense a little of what Jenny must be feeling -- I think I am much more fortunate than she is, thank God.
And you're right, Dave -- bloody Tories never listen unless you're talking their language -- money, savings thereof, for the benefit of their supporters.
