So much truth in what you have spoken.
Each death is a way to shower the public with tokens of reasons to be fearful.
While those in power remained cheerful and full of affection towards those they love.
And us plain folk terrified of infection from a man made disease that only has one purpose..

CONTROL.....

Covid. The only time a bank will allow any one to walk threw the doors with there face fully covered....

Ehhhhhhhhh anyone fancy robbing a bank. No guns needed just a little cough and everyone will fall to there knees .

No deaths of old age or road accidents or flu.
Every single government are out to fool you.

The world's biggest pandemic
And yet the death rates are no higher then they have been in the last 6 years.

I smell bullshit

I don't mind,
If others boys are dancing with my girl
It's alright
She's not one to kiss and tell

But I know
Sometimes I must get out in the light
If she's spreads it around
Is that really alright???

Thank you Jason and Paul for your encouraging comments.
(Sadly Paul's comment is no longer viewable since he left the site)

My own natural disposition isn't particularly adverse to change but anyone can lose their equilibrium and strength (one? both?) under relentless change even if they would usually see change as exciting rather than scary.

However, as a SEND parent it isn't only our own reaction to change that becomes the issue, and in this piece I am confronting the possibility of two meltdowns, the one that I am anticipating the probability of in my child, and the secondary (or primary?) meltdown of my own capacity to cope too.

The very specific scenario behind the poem made me think it might not be widely relevant but I am glad that the more general attempt to avoid my own meltdown is meaningful in a broader sense than just my own faced situation.

Thanks for the comments! ? Greg, you said 'there was a lot going on' and I'll be honest Directions is two seperate poems shoe horned together. This is the second one:
Walking paces vary,
But there is an uncanny synchronicity in this city,
Some have direction, chutzpah and meaning,
Others sad, shuffling and sedentary-
Trams belch out horns
The stories of each person is secondary to the omnipresent city
Two miles down the road a baby is born
A bored bin man hasn't smiled all day, why?
No one cares about his sore feet and paltry pay.

Do you think it would be better as two seperate poems?

thank you @lisa donohoe

I wrote this a few months ago, before i finally plucked up the courage to choose myself and my mental health above all else.

Now i feel, it was the right choice and feel myself beginning to bloom again.

It is hard being with someone who doesn't communicate, especially when it is the primary thing you need. I have learned, i believe, that some people are just not compatible.

Besides wondering if I am awful for ending things, I think that in my mind I feel at rest now. Since it's not full of endless questioning anymore inside my head, feeling like i am no longer able to even verbally speak my concerns and worries.

I am generally quite an open person with the right people, so to feel like I had to choke so much back, it was very unnatural for me. And i feel, it vented out a lot in this poem.

Now, that i am on the mend and in a good headspace again, i felt it was time to finally post this poem since i guess, I will not trigger those emotions and feelings back up too much when i come across it again ?

I really appreciate your kind and lovely words, and well wishes. As well as your comment as a whole. It is touching that you took your time to read and respond to this poem, especially given its personal nature
Thank you so much

To speak yet not feel heard is the most head wrecking feeling in the world. And to top that with being the only one wanting to fix the relationship is actually heartbraking.
The lack from his part , says alot more about him then it does about you.
You'll have no regrets in the end because you know you did more then you had to and now your doing what should always be done.
Putting yourself as a priority.
You will heal. And i can feel your growth already . Well done for been so strong and lovable x

My childhood consisted of tayto crips and a bottle of coke. And lungs filled with second hand smoke.
Unfortunately kids wore seen and not heard in those pubs.
But I still laugh at the memories.
Lucky you getting to play pool.
The owner was afraid kids will wreck the table carpet.
The good old days ??

Adult content Paul? It seems to me a comparison between my good poem, and your perversion. Also I find your comments offensive, and rude. But maybe I am wrong, lets here from some others, if you can let other peoples comments be seen for a minute, before covering them up with your constant rubbish. You refer to the good old days, the good old days were the first two weeks of this year, when you were gone. Sorry Paul, I am trying to tolerate you, and play nice, but damn. Give us a break.

The headlines : Warning this comment has adult content is reminiscent of those headlines found in the Völkischer Beobachter during the Third Reich, when people thought or said that which opposed the State. Hopefully we have progressed since those days. We might not like or agree with the content of poems or prose but in a free society we have the right to express what we like .Any attempt to withdraw or censor this, is regressive into an age of fascism and tyranny. I shall be happy to refer this to the moderator. I demand as a citizen of this country the right of free speech and expression without personal insult

This poem is raw in its content yet outstandingly honest. We can applaud the honesty and also the courage to proclaim this poem as it comes from the inner depths of another's soul. What creates this dilema is for the reader to decide but judgment must be cast aside as it serves no purpose. The writer is not alone in his predicament as are those involved in the drug and alcohol culture but a voice like this needs to be heard and who better than the voice of a poet.

Thank you for this
Keith
