I wasn't sure about this poem - if people would really get anything from it. Your positive response has given me the signal it probably will be okay to submit somewhere. Look forward to reading more of your stuff.

Thanks Mona, Don and Devon for the very generous comments. Delighted to hear i use poetic devices!!!! (Do get it.)
Devon - I did add another line - 'hoping to see the dawn again', but preferred the original as perhaps it gives a sense that something, anything, or nothing might happen. This is a place we go to, and at night I always have a sense of expectancy - exactly for what i don't know.
Thanks again. jennifer

Great writing, someone with no illusiions at all about himself, and no hypocrisy either - 'people sin and i join in'.

Hi Don - as till laughing! Going 'edge' and being nice aren't compatible i would have said.
If he wants you to edge
he can jump in a hedge
Did he go to a Colledge?
Just joking!!!!!!

Lovely poem. I feel like this about gardens - man -made and natural too. They really do pit against the tide of so much that offends the eye'. I feel sorry for people who can't see the beauty. The Botanics in Edinburgh are fantastic gardens, even though carefully planned.

Really liked this - the use of words to describe a broken heart is very clever - pick up the pieces- shattered so many times little more than sand - tears causing the fragments to cling ..... petrified that the tiny grains would slip through my fingers. None of the usual sentimental guff!!!!!

Shit Brian! You setting me a challenge? You know what happens when I get too edgy. They kick me off the site for some R and R.
Seriously, that's what we're both on about. Too much doom and gloom, fluff and flowery stuff. Get out of comfort zone, out of safe topics. (Personally I still regard certain 'unsafe' topics verboten as you are aware)
I'm asked to write an edgy
Poem for the scary
One that's in the icon
But am a bit tad wary

Forgive me if I am wrong but I sense a searching in this poem which reminds of the u2 song
'I still haven't found what I'm looking for'
At any rate what ever the motivation it is a fine poem
Nice one

if only simple pleas were so simple, Ray--never beg for something that's free
mostly people understand emptied spaces
and obstacles
blast em out
notch them out with words and ink
let erosion find the shapes of them
in the rock of time
they are still absences all the same
meh
..sorry, man--it's an obvious paradox but I'm feeling a bit the nihilist.
Cheers, anyways, to you and the kindness of your comment )

You should know poets can choose to write whatever they want. It doesn't have to be groundbreaking. It doesn't have to be written for an audience. It can simply be written for the enjoyment of playing with words. As this was. If others like it fine. If not-still fine. I enjoyed doing it. That what counts. To me.

Don - writing a poem about the poems you write is hardly ground breaking, particularly as you do it at fairly regular intervals. Come on Don...walk the walk!!!

I see your pain coming out on my screen. It takes a lot of courage to do this.
No one wants to hear it
No one wants to see it
No one wants to know it
So be quiet...
Put back your mask...
Keep wearing that smile that doesn't match the eyes on the verge of tears
So true of many of us - don't want to know, don't want to talk about it, don't bother us. Go away. Makes me angry.
