No matter what nay-sayers may have to say - the concept is still one worth fruition and thoughtful dissection. Nicely done.?

Good morning to you Mrs gorgeous Higson ?!
to me, this piece could refer not only to the meteorological kind of storms presently doing their destructive rounds but also the one fast approaching from Europe.
Let us hope it isn't one to 'beat all others!'
have a great day chuck.

Great to read your lovely rhyming poetry. The world of soapland is pretty surreal, however we went on the new Corrie tour at Media City on Saturday and loved it!

This poem is inspired by and dedicated to another kind of pen holder—those who have been growing food and rearing animals on their allotments for many years, who are now fighting to remain on them as, due to austerity cuts, councils are trying to sell off the land.

thanks for the comments on 'Bevin Boy' Martin - very kind of you.
I haven't been to Wigan for a while - other stuff has seemed to clash every month (mainly rugby and my own gigs) but I am the guest at WOL Sale this coming Tuesday and will be doing a couple of sets of my poems set to music if you're about

I find this refreshing Jennifer - unpretentious and with tongue in cheek. There is an underscore here of the hypocrisy of what constitutes "good" behaviour and how that might favour us for the big white cloudland.

A great one to read Becky; instantly clicks and ticks the boxes. Our sanitary habits at home are a source of mystery to me - it could never descend into an argument or a truce as the only thing that annoys me is those swinging frames in which everything falls out when most needed. I think another poem is coming on already!

A goody, Taylor - with its palms up on the table hiding nothing. I must say as an aside, that I get a bit cheesed off with the shortening of phrases into soundbites like Soaps, Celebs, Unis instead of Universities, making everyday things seem automatically over intimate. Sorry out there, but I am with the phrase police.
I'll get my coat.

Thank you John for your comments! I really enjoy reading your work. It is intense and delicate at the same time. I admire the way you use words and manage to capture the moment and the feelings. This happens in Strange Fruit in a critical way. I especially like this line: Eyes shut ever-tighter: so the fragrant oiled hair of our beloved. Becomes the gleaming silk of the evening.

I recall Private Eye did a spoof on this Charles Aznavour
song (referring to him as " 'As enough" which seems to
apply here ha-ha). Pensions are based on contributions -
at least that was my understanding. In that sense, the
number should be reflected in the return.
I always enjoy the "equality" debate - and enjoyed this as
a very skilful dual spoof on both the song and the topic
itself.
P.S. I'm intrigued by the comment addressed to a certain
unseen "Laura". I have my own idea who that might be.
The old song from the movie is a personal favourite and
I trust you'll resist a spoof on its famous haunting lyric!
