I sense your frustration and the passion behind what you are writing by the fact most of al I suspect nobody is actually listening to you even when you are present in company and speaking. The desire to be alone can be just as strong as it can for some to want to be in a crowd. But I agree with David in that it might be helpful not to totally isolate yourself . Take care
The poem is excellent both in words and format. I look forward to more

I love the honesty of your poetry as much as the humorous side to what you write. May your frustrations be few my friend

Hi Jennifer
Nelly was my sister, Hoggy was a mate of my dad's. My dad was as bad as Hoggy, because he stood as watched when Hoggy kicked her dog. Had her concentration not been broken, I'm sure she would have smashed his head in.
glad you enjoyed the story.

Peter I can see a distinctive style that you are developing here with your writing that draws the reader. I think this is as much to do with the fact that many people can so easily relate to what you write in a pleasant gentle and easy way. This is no exception in its familiarity of an ordinary British church grave yard.
I look forward to more

Many thanks, Taylor and David, it's great to get your thoughts.
I think, David, that you have identified exactly the meanings behind our actions and rituals re our deceased; and am grateful for your wide-ranging and admirable insights into other faiths and civilisations (which I have picked up in many of your poems and comments).
Taylor, again huge thanks for your time and words that get the feelgood factor flowing for the day.

Conjoined in dream - a resolution devotedly to be wished for Peter. Puts me in mind of Robert Browning's poem 'Andrea Del Sarto' from his 1855 collection 'Men and Women' and, particularly,"Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp, Or what's a heaven for?"

It's (data farmed) been sold countless times to companies and governments, helped sway elections the world over, suppress dissident speech, all that stuff George Orwell warned us about all those years ago.
Different hoods with the same masks, and another great piece from your way.?

That's funny stuff, but nah nothing too dicey. I got the pen name from a portmanteau of the first two rap names I had when I started back in high school.
Not my best work, but someone had to do it.

Monologues can be exhausting. It's natural to expect others to join in, but they don't always.
The term "self-actualization" comes to mind, here. I hesitate to expand too much, but you may find it an interesting concept anyway.
Rachel
PS
The formatting definitely does lend an element to the piece that might go unnoticed in its absence--very thoughtful.

Like lemmings to the sea...
Maybe we are built to be blindly tied to the machinations we create and set loose, like subconsciously planting logic bombs to later set our destiny free.
..just a thought.

I liked this. When I see a long poem I don't usually begin as I'm afraid of falling asleep halfway. This one kept me captivated to the end. I liked the changes as the tale went on and the surprise ending. Liked the use of cos. Just cos I do. ?

Thank you. I wrote it in paragraphs at first, was an old memo to show doctors about how it feels (description)
I thought I would pay arpund with it to see if I could put it into a lot visual and poetic way ?
It's the most painful thing I ever have had to regularly go through. Hopefully one day I'll be free of it haha

@DOOMTASTIC Thanks maam. Glad you enjoyed it.
A mother knows that in life, her little ones will face so many struggles! Yet she can't keep her close to her breast. She has to let him go. The little ones have to learn life the hard way as there is no easy way either.
Have a good day!
Cheers

Thanks Don... I often write Haiku, and quite often write a number of them on the same subject (the length really seems to fit well with my thought processes) but I had never attempted to string them together like this. Haiku with glue you might say!

I saw the blade
But could not feel
Your crippling pain

Poetizing the blade
I hope relieves
Some crippling pain

I really enjoyed this. Very well written. I like how you described the mother bird as "teary eyed" personifying her relationship with her young and letting him go on his first flight. People take for granted how similar we are to animals.

Your man-on-the-Clapham-omnibus, Brian, was a Fascist, xenophobic ejit - in my opinion. I do not write for him or her. But, thank god, that man has now fallen off said omnibus and his/her place has been taken by a person who does have the faculty of empathy (maybe because s/he is a refugee him/her self).

The man on the Clapham omnibus cannot relate to what is going on in the middle east. All he hopes is that it won't result in thousands of refugees landing on our shores. (This applies equally to omnibus travellers in Worcester, Guildford etc)

Thanks Anya, Taylor, Don, and Brian.
I was one of the working class lads in this story. we really believed we could fly, and came so close to achieving our dreams.
Yes even the lowly can fly, but not very far it would seem
Teachers sometimes used to put down the most vulnerable kids, like any bully they liked an easy target
sorry about the length, I don't have the ability to get my stories out in a few words. this one is actually brief compared to some of my others.
Glad I was able to keep you interested
Cheers Kevin
