Hello Jemima,
I'm very pleased to know that you have enjoyed reading this remembrance of my mother. I wonder if John Lennon was right when he wrote "All you need is love".

Like this lots Rich. I was just reading a recent quote by Bill Gates who said that we need new tools to deal with climate change but I reckon we have all the tools we need at our disposal, we just need the right leadership to learn quick how to use them. Thanks for posting. Col.

Thank you Turtle and Jemima. Knowing you guys can relate makes all the difference. Someone once told me "good things come to those who wait" while I was feeling this way. Of course you hate to hear that while you're hurt but it's so true. I imagine letting go is kind of like closing your eyes when you're getting a shot at the doctor's, waiting for this terrible pain, only to open your eyes & realize it wasn't that bad after it's over.

thanks so much for your lovely comments, sorry for the delay in replying
beno - i simply opened my eyes one morning and new i had to write this down
suki - that was my favourite bit too!
cynthia - lovely comments thank you. not sure about narcissism, but i definitely have the confidence now to write exactly what i desire, knowing it will come out better than if i tried to pander to positivity and praise. if that makes sense!

I loved the kitchen imagery - the table, the curtains, and so on - as Adam says each reading brings something new. Not the least because of the ambiguity of the key line: "My mother leaned against dreams" - is she supported by them or is she working against them? I wonder!

A haunting by the isolation within crowds - the imposition of thoughts on vast tracts unknowable Tom. (Or I am trying to write a poem as a comment?) You do manage to transport US and that's the main thing. Any news re your book yet?

A very nice idea this 220 A. You are kept in a state of suspension while ascending. With respect I preferred not to have the full stops- although on second thoughts just lose the ones after Runs and Space, so as to get a sort of stop - go sense. Or play with it - or totally ignore me whatever. Just an idea !

HI Jennifer. Thank you - Me in 1964. We can all dream! Glad you enjoyed this vignette. Sometimes I spend more time on the shorter ones (for impact) - good practise.
Yes Suki , a grim subject but its more my humour that i'm presenting. Glad you liked it.
Thanks Cynthia. History shown in sharp relief(from the dark side).
Mark, Yes how true - don't muck abaht with the powers what was !
I appreciate all your comments , a bit like cracking open a puzzle and difficult to elaborate on.
It's lovely too to get all the likes ! Col, David, 220 August and Beno.

I like the railway/station analogy of our travel through life & could imagine "the passed" crowding along platforms lit by
the old hissing gas lamps trying to make way for the
newly arrived. I found myself thinking...1st, 2nd or 3rd
class?...depending on the price paid in life's journey.
