Tara I really enjoyed this poem, great detail and captures the frantic yet calm atmosphere of medical interventions. Great that you have written honestly about your experiene of the job.

JOHN,
Talk about timin`!...I`ve just posted one about evacuating on Jonanthan Humbles `The End`.
However how about this one (which I got my lads to sing when we were fighting for longer breaks off the job in my old shop-steward days).
Give me some men, some stout hearted men
Who will fight for the right to sh..te, when they like.
It`s a bit militaristic - I grant...but?

I can't believe it goes through the post. I had to send mine Parcel Force as it weighted in excess of 28lbs. Hope your results are clear.
End of season? it's excruciating. Oh for the placidity of those seasons of mid-table mediocrity.

Never, Helen! How could you be a has-been poet while composing an excellent rhyme like this one?
Mind you, I think we all have those moments where we are dissatisfied with our own work, or can't quite produce the work we wish to. Goes with the territory, I guess.
I enjoyed, it's definitely a poem lots of us can relate to.

Amazing imagery in these poems. I also like that they seem written from a deep well of experience of care work. The work is anchored in specific, realistic details but goes far beyond this.

What I like here is the symbolism of the moon with the feminine principle, as adopted by certain religions. I agree with Wolfie on the last line. Inspired writing and riveting.

Thanks all. Harry, you're forgiven. I think in the latter years maybe a reduction of one or two cholesterol points is slightly pedantic - etc. On with the cream slices. My mum lived to 96 and looked forward to my weekly visit with an apple turnover - she never turned over a new leaf.
Mark: a nursery rhyme of sorts : good advice.
Helen: thanks so much for that. The last thing you need is sanctimonious advice. My wife has rheumatoid arthritis, and no one seems to know that that stays in the blood stream and moves its forces wherever it will.
I think people often have a sense of denial in facing the facts of these unmentionable diseases. It takes a lot to cope with an inevitability of any kind and is life changing.
As far as education is concerned - that is quite different from commercial propaganda, and is its poor relation, I fear.

Laura,
I like the way that this properly executed Haiku form
allows the story to be told in a controlled manner. (and how
appropriate to both the form and the story that `arrested` is)...not to mention the humour...
Some night eh!...sounds like some of the nights we used to get at the old Liverpool Scene years ago.

And should you be venturing out this evening, keep your eyes peeled for two senior motorcyclists.I've heard that because of their jealousies, they love nothing better than running over lovely ladies!
