I'm still working on that Blake quote. The words about the folly
involved in riding a tiger keep intruding. Wrath is certainly to be
understood when oppression without recourse takes a prevalent position in our lives - essentially "the divine right of kings" pursued
by Charles 1 was the basis for what followed - and that, in turn,
saw a return of the monarchy in modified form that the people of
the time welcomed from what had been experienced in the interim
period...but without the bloodshed.
In recent history, the people have been betrayed (oppressed) by
the manner in which their elected representatives have kept them
uninformed of matters of huge historical importance - and this in
turn will undoubtedly see some powerful reactions and changes that will propel our nation's history onwards. Hardly an unknown
experience.

Lovely and very nostalgic! Glad someone else (keith) had one of those cilindrical stone bottles. Really uncomfortable, but meant to air the bed. In Italy in those days they had a contraption called 'the priest's wife' - a kind of lightweight wooden frame where they hung a little iron pan filled with charcoal. It did warm the bed but probably caused a few fires too!

?A very readable eulogy which would please its subject, I reckon.
I had a mental picture of him trimming his moustache with garden
shears. Whimsy pops up uninvited on occasions!

Human nature rarely changes. Arrogance in public life is the most
obvious source of cock-ups. In private life, it is usually a resistance
to admitting fault (pride!) and even making a virtue of it when it does
occur (the "meant well" syndrome).
These lines are a good illustration of the situation.

Great poem, and unfortunately how true - there are always the 2 sides to loving someone. (Don't tell anyone, but I had to look up dichotomy again - di OK = 2 - but the chotomy?) !!

Thanks Don! I do get a kick out if it! I've written the silliest things, even limericks, and made the stupid mistake of posting them on a certain social network and gotten shunned! Which evenrually led me to WOL, thank you very much! Sometimes I got absolutely nada to say but my fingers are itchy! It's nice to be understood! Australia, eh? Not a bad idea at all! Thank you again! And yeah screw competitions and winning prizes, it would sure be nice but it's not why we do it!
Keep on
Dear Don!
Just write
And you'll be alright!
Or something...!

Cynthia/Mike - we are, therefore we write. Poets can't resist our inborn urge to write. You are right Cynthia. Sharing is a bonus. If others enjoy it, fine. If not ? Still fine. After all we write for ourselves? ...hmm ?

I also have a misspelling problem, May
I rhyme nonsense stuff all the time
No, we're not ordinary idiots
We're idiots both in our prime
Don't give up, fly your chariot to Australia
'Tis quite dry here, (with plenty of chicanes)
I'll take you on a tour our or country
We'll bow down to the Queen of Mundane
Now Mae take a note of what Cynthia said
Whack nonsense together for fun
You get such a kick out of doing it, yes?
Such a pity it don't win prizes when done
(But that's not why we write poetry Don...)
I must go along with friend Po
That your rhyming skills, Mae, are top-notch
Look out for the rhymers with nothing to say
Mundane/nonsense, learn, yes, and watch ?

Thanks for your story Po. I can't go into the semantics, just to say that Part 2 was a protest poem re some reactions to Part 1 which was the real deal. The poem obviously hit a spot cheers.

Cor, luv a duck! Good accent for the theme. Mind you, when I
was in the London docklands of the 1960s, the East End had already
seen the onset of upwardly mobile moves. My Cable Street E1 tailor
came in from North London to the small solo premises that was a
remnant (suitable material analogy?) of the highway of pre-war
years. What people have in common will have always draw them
tightly together and that is still the case.

A worthwhile reminder that there are lives well led that set a quiet
example for their restrained fortitude and determination to meet and
overcome life's obstacles. A most refreshing alternative to the
the moans and misery so prevalent these days. A salute is in order
and given!
