Thanks Steve.
Speaking of “The Big Lie”, we in the UK made a film with that title; but we’re far more gentlemanly about such things…one doesn’t go tampering with machines and stuff; one simply ensures that the entire news media, on paper and screen, are in on the act.
That way, the UK electorate don't get to see “The Big Lie”, venues being boycotted on the grounds of trumped-up accusations (now proven to be such) of anti-semitism.
Day one: mainstream news interviewer to politiician: “are you his friend?”; “Oh yes, of course I am!”.
Day two: mainstream news interviewer to politician: “are you his friend?”; “Oh no, don’t be silly!”.

Well put, Steve. In a way, it's sad, though. As you imply, people like this are the gullible foot soldiers of Trump's Big Lie and are (quite rightly) put in prison. But how much time will DT spend behind bars? A nice round figure, I guess.
Good poem on an issue which I fear will see a new lease of life when Trump loses again in November.

Thank you, Steve and Uilleam. Yes, each individual who undertakes these perilous voyages does so at great risk and they too often end in tragedy. I read recently about the hundreds of unmarked graves on the migration routes to Europe, and also met two Afghan men whose account of their journey from Kabul to Belgium left me open-motuhed and in awe of their bravery and determination.
As you both say, the human endeavour and tragedy is so often forgotten in all the populist bluster.
And thank you to everyone who liked this poem. I am very grateful for your support.

"Our government supplies the weapons no mystery".
Yes, but,you don't understand, the UK's contribution to the genocide is extremely small-we only supply the little black buttons for others people to press...nowt to do with us guv.
So the babies, and the close on100,000 (probably) that are killed, are only a LITTLE bit dead.
What we need right now is WW111. THAT should take our minds off the genocide. oops, here we go!

Thank you Uilleam and Greg - it was really uplifting. The kids' smiles and enthusiasm for words were infectious. Having spent most of my career trying to make people in business communicate more effectively, sell stuff or look good in front of other business people, I do wonder if I missed my way. But then being dropped in for a few hours is easy, not sure I could keep up with the responsibility of helping to guide the flow of those curious, super-active minds every day! 😀

Only yesterday I was walking along the pavement, when right in front of me, a woman, obediently nose to screen, stepped off the pavement and narrowly missed being flattened by the bus from which I had just alighted! The driver sounded his horn, which startled me, but she never even flinched!

There's nothing more delighful than the creativity of little children. Birthday, father's day, Christmas day cards etc. I'll treasure them always. Our granddaughter was once busy making a "spaceship" out of a 6 ft long cardbord box, complete with windows. When I asked her later if it had managed to get to the moon , she gave me a puzzled look, as if to say "don't be silly!"💗

I believe I understand completely, David--I often feel much the same. But then, it also often seems to me there's not a thought in my head.
"Interstellar" is a great film. And, yeah, the rabbit hole does go deep...
Was it the gnostics who subscribed to the idea that the physical realm of matter is itself corruption manifest?
..there's a distinct possibility that I would misrepresent the beliefs of others according to my own misunderstanding, so I won't go further.
If mankind ever does unravel the thread of creation, of what will he dream?
A good evening to you ) 🌷

Haven't been on the site for a while but was sharing the poem with a friend & realised I'd recorded a version more recently so I thought I'd post it. The reference to Windows 8 is a bit dated but I'm thinking of switching my internet provider at the moment but, just like that new computer, it's not allowing access to certain websites I use regularly - something to do with certificates

Hi Landi,
I very much enjoyed this piece. It set me thinking but alas I could not muster an appropriate response or comment as the rabbit hole went too deep.
On the evening of reading it I attended the big screen anniversary of one of my now favourite films "Interstellar" now that really twisted my melon when interwoven with your text.
Thankx,

Primarily written in honour of my good friends now under the gun in Beirut and the Greater Lebanon.
It could just as easily be for my friends in Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem, Gaza, and The Occupied Territories.
Things don't get much more current or realistic than that in my opinion.

Thanks for the comment, Uilleam.
Your words started me thinking early today about the story of Adam and his task to name the creatures which cohabited the earth in the days of Eden--my thoughts, at the moment, are branching out like tendrils in too many directions for which to account, though.
I will say that I had a class a couple of years ago with whom I did my best to study Of Mice And Men. However, even the most astute of them had very little interest. I tried to emphasize the many parallels with Genesis, but things I found obvious proved to be much too extracted for the teenage mind. Anyway...
..I still find the idea that Curley's wife died without a name to be particularly poignant--though many might interpret her to be the temptress in the garden, she seems more to me the embodiment of arrested development.
Thanks to everyone for reading )
