I thought first 3 verses were very good - so phantom were her dreams is a great line, as Ann said - though I don't think the rest lived up to expectaions.Partly because I'm not familiar with the myth but also I thought the quality of writing waned. It's gangrene by the way.

Thank you so much for your comments on Persephone's Creek, that's exactly what I wanted the shoes to represent :) They were the starting point for my poem actually, it only got the title and mythological theme later.

I love Upong the Quality of love by the way, it flows so smoothly and reads so beautifully. You're a very talented poet xxx

Hi Ann - I was into digital photo editing to a small extent 25 years ago - but it was getting my hands on the RISC OS system that radically improved things for me - Photodesk was incredibly powerful even 15 years ago - much easier than Photoshop on the PC. You can of course buy photo clip art discs with 'royalty free' images on them - a safe way to find a suitable image. My own interest was born out of the need to provide large images for exhibition panels - most enlargements looked 'blocky' or pixelated when we used the zoom functions on our big colour copier, so I would scan the images into the computer and do what I could to soften the ragged edges, hehe. It can be fun playing with photo editors, but I've yet to find a windows program I like to use for that purpose. best wishes, Dave

Interesting about the photo Dave. Are you well up on this sort of stuff? I am in a pickle over photos at the mo. I often used to use stuff from Flikka but now Flikka seems to have changed and you can't copy/save an image (or I don't seem to be able to!) I suppose it was prob not legal or something to use the photos? But it was called "Photo sharing" so I did! Will I have to get a camera now and spend all day taking photos to use? And scan stuff from books etc (prob illegal too?) Or have no photo image to go with a poem? That always seemed an integral part of it to me. Oh pooh! xx

Hehe - and who am I to deny it Ann? ;) The picture is a composite I made from some of my digital photos - the sky from the fens, the wildfowl from Peakirk bird park, the 'house' derived from the village school house - all heavily edited in Photodesk about 12 years ago on my trusty RISC-OS computer... Best wishes, Dave

these images express the golden ratio of fibonacci sequence in nature.
ive no idea why your poem reminded me of the rule now other than because its complex structure forms a simple image that is beautiful and can be appreciated on either a complex or simple level.
This mathematical rule either understands or expresses numerous occurances in natures beauty...fascinating

ok.
writing which is academic = all writing is academic. the act of writing is an academic pastime.
This piece of writing highlights that and changes it...
a clever thing to do and therefore another act of academia...ironic!
however its humorous and its edge can be felt making it altogether something else :)

phew...comments about comments about my perceptions of writing about your perceptions...its getting like when two mirrors face.
have you looked up the golden rule in nature its fascinating :)
to truly avoid the academic...you could always go plough a field:)
