Normally I would see these as just random words but the pace and flow of this poem make it a lot more along with the angst that exists within these lines. it has an excellent cohesion and rhythm

That third stanza is for me the most potent and powerful lines in the poem. regardless of sexuality sometimes it takes a long time for any of us to recognise ourselves as people.
an excellent poem

This is a very sad reflection of what happens all over the world in different decades seemingly without any care for those who have helped establish the fortunes of those at the top. It is all very well close down a business that is no longer viable but what do you replace it with?
Well said Don

Absolutely excellent K J. what makes it even better is when some of it is written in local dialect.

Yes, cheap is one motivation but I think for most people convenience is a really large element, you know, can't be arsed to cook, or grow veg etc, and I think we're probably all guilty of that. Then on top of that you've got to try and get another 8 billion people on board, when a lot of them can barely afford to eat at all. Still, we must do what we can. Love the poem Eve.

Theres something really emotional in the recurring theme of sight and vision in this poem.... Through the eyes to dreams to reality.... Really conveyes the feeling of a closeness developing into growing moving further apart..... Lovely poem

It is strange how some how we use to derive some sort of warmth and comfortable recognition with such institutions as the shipping forecast, and dare I say it shows like billy cottons band show.

Hi Grape. I am curious and would like to ask could there be a dual sexuality identity here ? If so it is beautifully expressed. If not, it still has a sense of questioning which in itself may be a good thing!

Ray, my love affair with the shipping forecast was an early morning one before R4 Today came on the radio on my way to work. It always used to fascinate me, especially so in the winter when the weather outside was very poor. One could only imagine the seas!

A common fact of life across the generations. But whilst we are right
to be concerned about the workforce and its prospects, it is also
only fair to remind ourselves that someone somewhere had the foresight and the courage needed to get a business up and running
and become a viable place of profit that would enable others to
gain the chance of employment. Sometimes, the moving forces
that see a business emerge and prosper don't get the recognition
or the appreciation they deserve in this world. That said, the genuine
caring employer seeks to do the best he or she can if sale/disposal
of a business is on the card for whatever reason..

The rhythm is hypnotic and tells us why rhyme is so enduring. It is
the beat of the heart that powers the juice that feeds the mind that
creates the imagination.

Thank you as ever for your comments, and the poetic riposte Don. You are so right Devon, wish the populace of the UK could value quality over quantity and do something to address our superficiality as a society. The sad truth is whilst we are busy over consuming and fuelling climate change...people in the developing world are paying for our greed and avarice with their lives.

Obviously heartfelt, and unfortunately nowadays children are sofrequently traumatised when the parents split up. The older ones perhaps may understand better, but for the young ones their world just falls apart. Then sometimes there is also parental alienation. On the other hand one could say that a divorce is better than fighting the whole time. Either way the kids lose out.
