It's nice to see
That you MC
Like simple and short ones
That keep awake me
zzzzzzzz....
Cos there's no likes
Can only presume
That Stacy wasn't racy
For WOLers,(wanted gloom)
Even old Coops
Was hazy (or lazy?)
To notice he'd authored
Stacy does Racy
Guess to involved
With current does racy
Forgot that he'd written
Past Stacy Does Racy
I thought that her picture
Which showed much front bloom
Would pull away WOLers looking for gloom
Stacy says you missed a treat......

They'll read you with gusto
If your poems are just-so!
Be pointed...be brief
And you'll be read with relief.
Keep it tight...keep it taut -
Life is too short! ?

Susan, though not my role here on WoL, welcome, come on in, put your feet up and write, read, comment, like, whatever. I thought your poem, "Ann Marie", to be very touching, as well as your sample poem. I was raised by my sister, so to speak, so I felt the absence in the piece. Lot's of wonderful folks reside here. So enjoy.

Thanks to fish and Mindy for liking.
Don thanks for reading and commenting, bless you my friend
Tommy I love your comment I sense a line of poetry there
Lisa I know what you mean. there is a certain beauty in rust , I love old doors and gates that show signs of aging and wear. I cannot pass one that looks distressed without taking a picture.
Rose many thanks for your appreciation its means a lot, particularly having such friends as your good self. Cheers
Stu, somehow I thought this may appeal to you my friend. My problem is that because I am quite melancholic by nature I can get a bit to maudlin at times. Hope we can catch in the not to distant future .
Tom thanks so much for reading I am pleased I provoke people a little to think occasionally
Devon there is nothing quite like a mellow groove to start the day, particularly on a Friday.
Ray that is something satisfying I have to confess in repairing or refurbishing something, sometimes we all to readily throw away something because it has a bit of surface rust. But there are some things that get so easily forgotten and discarded like relationships. I must admit I do appreciate my friendships a good deal. and you are right sometimes it isn't so easy to move on.
Once again thanks to everybody for reading and commenting, iut is greatly appreciated
Love to all
Martin

Great sense of comparisons - I can identify so much here being forever trying to repair material functional things and see the analogy, and how it should be time to move on to free ourselves up from the irrelevant past. Easier said than done of course!

a poem to ponder on as we occasionally see this in others and quietly dread that it should happen to us as we fear the loss of our identity and sink into an incomprehensible haze.
Very well put together and written with love.
Thank you for this

When I read this sort of poem I feel it has experienced a birth and has a life unique of its own; I think your work is almost subconscious and springs feed it . In other words you inspire me Stu ! A real sense of the internalising of the close up here.

I like this poem, Lisa. I take it the first six "lines" are descriptors for your poems that you are reviewing. And in reading them again, you found dem power in dem words. I like the self-discovery of this.

Jon, "crying out a 'second' swallowed scream, gouging out the 'minutiae'..." so cleverly placed, reinforcing the ticking tock of an earlier line. Turning then to the image of spacetime. This is very well put together. Thanks for this. Mucho Kudos.

Sophie, really appreciate your kind comments on my profile page. Nice to think that someone else shares the same view and 'slight' struggle to write while lacking full use of the English language. But nevertheless, we are both managing to get our writings kindly approved by the more word familiar so we are doing okay methinks and of course, improving as we go along picking up literary 'tips' and meanings.
I should imagine Sophie that like me there are times you possibly think to yourself ' if only I had had a better education where, in, the poetry world would I have been by now?
All my very best indeed to you.

"Only here and now and then nothing, ever more,
And even when it's bad, it beats the stark alternative,"
and
"Remember every stolen breath can lead to the superlative,
So steal as many as you can and revel in the theft."
caught me the most! Once more a poem that could turn to a classic!
Thank you?

Wow! Where do I begin?
[...] the relentless tidal wash of time laps at the castles you built in the sand [...]
Not only do you have the sands of time slipping through your fingers, life ties you to a chair and forces you to look while the tidal waves ruin your life's work, over and over and over still you can see nothing else but the picture of "the things you gave your life to broken" as Kipling said. So vividly and so painfully painted.
[...]And the sense that sensibility and banality benignly bind your restless hands?
Another conflict between the young man and his aging shadow, perhaps?
I hope there is a truth in the naivety and I also want the strength. Every stage of life has its charm.
Now as for the petrification that preserves you in a coccon of magma juxtaposed with the coldness of the tomb that provides you with room...
"Some say the world will end in fire some say in ice, from what I've tasted from desire I hold with those who favor fire!"
But take your pick cause one way or another you're going to end up ceased. Terrifying notion truth is, takes a lot of courage to face it.
As for the predecided "place in the world" I hate it exactly because "the differences between me and you are negligible at best" and becuase of the unfairness of the deprivation of the right to "live the dream."
I accept your invitation to the fireside and let's all live, laugh and love hard, my dear alchemist friend, because I don't see any other way of doing this.
In short, I loved it! Excellent! I envy your innate sense of rhythm!
Bravo my friend! ?

Martin this is strange now
Why you cannot pee
Next-door streams should make you go
Automatically
Pavlov with his dogs showed
Next-door running pee
Will power-suggest your bladder to
Undo, and go free
Methinks you're fighting nature
(And what would Pavlov think?)
Attempting to disprove him
At the pisshole sink?
Ray I must apologise
