If you're not, then perhaps I deserve it.
You could be everything
You could be nothing
You could be the highest of highs or the most epic of lows
You could be my ebb, you could be my flow
You could be just one night
You could be the love of my life!
You could b...

New love |Voices on the Bridge @Globetrotters Bar Pontypridd 13th December 2018
Voices on the Bridge Pontypridd,a poetry spoken word and music event has been running since October 2016 organised by yours truly Rob Cullen. The event has been based in the wonderfully atmospheric Pontypridd Museum a converted chapel next to the iconic Old Bridge of Pontypridd (hence the name). We've been lucky to have wonderful lineups and the event has become very popular both with performers a...

Cellular Configurations
Cellular configurations scoop me up from the pavement
Shadow follower like my own body's outline,
Continually scatters my thought time
Through the loss of flared dappled camouflage
I feel Escher breathing mist over the bars around my body
Casting space glassways up to me,
The tail of descent hits my family
Like pebbled reflections vexing through this half-apple of a fable, m...

Wounds
Time heals all wounds,or so it has been said. Some wounds take more than time to heal. Some wounds don't bleed, instead they ache from sadness and trauma. Some wounds are caused by despair not cuts. Some wounds just remain, not able to heal. Some wounds are caused by words or mental trauma not just actions. How does one heal a wound that doesn't bleed, that just festers and lingers? Sometimes it b...

They are out to get me.
They stare, sizing me up.
They think I don't notice, but I see them. I don't stare back. I don't want to incite them.
I must give off a "crazy vibe" or a "crazy odor" that they can sense I am not doing well at all.
They want to capture me, take me away, hospital.
against my will.
I don't know how to fight them.
I only know that my protective womb shell ...

Serious advice
Remember today's date
Remember yesterday's date
Do not say: O tomorrow .. whisper;
Say with the highest voice
There is a short hair between hope and death
between the Rights and sustenance
There is a word destroys palaces, and builds homes
And thrones fall . . by touch

December musings
Dear friends,
Can it really be autumn already?
Time flies they say and I guess it's true. The endless work of revision and preparation of the back catalogue has continued apace. At least when spare time is scarce there's always something I can do! It's a good and sometimes sobering exercise when one returns to old work. Having been writing for over eight years now I've learned to distance my...

Standing in the crowd
Staring at the billboard…
I feel so important to you
Staring at the shop window
I am tempted to believe…
If I empty my pockets I will forget about you
Sitting on the sofa
Watching the adverts of pristine lives…
Each and everyone
Not a care in the world
Joyous at the insurance policy
Or furniture that just perfectly fits in
Lying down
Just prior to nails being hammered in…
I...

NOT REALLY A STRANGER
I don't know what the right term is
For this kind of tide
It is high but not stormy
Grey flecked with white
Slightly misty, bad tempered
I get the feeling it would like
To burst through the walls
And drown me quietly
I stare through the windows
Of a seafront bistro
Designed to show the bay
At its best to visitors
But the waves ...

Alone
I want to be alone
Only then, will the expectations disappear
Only then, will the pressure be lifted
Only the, will the burden and stress be gone
Only then, will I be alone
I want to be alone
Away from family and their worry gazes
Away from friends, for they don't understand
Away from my thoughts and feelings for they are not wanted
Away from myself, for am alone

Love that transcends rejection
After I lost you,
If I stop
You to adore
Or begin you to abhor,
I never loved
You before.
Even if I am aware
You are no longer mine
I will take that fine.
Exchanging with you
A greeting
By itself is a
Nice thing.

The Other Voice
I talked to myself all the time,
But then myself answered in reply.
And now she’s here, with me, always
For I invited something too strong,
Now we are lost and now we are scared,
Now we fight for control.
You talked to yourself all the time,
Until I talked back

Disappointment
Time and again you disappoint me
Your love for me I could barely see
Tried to hold on and gave some time
Now I see that nothing will be fine
Your love for me is the money I make
Stop giving excuses for heavens sake
Loving someone never had a price to pay
I see no hope for us much to my dismay
You forgot those days when I was holding on
Those times when I could have gone

Pain or Suffering?
I'm leaving you, he said.
Ouch.
I went in search for the meaning of this callous act.
I dredged up all my previous hurts.
Lined them up like a firing squad.
One of us must die. You or I.
Stop! Shouted the Buddha.
Act one. Scene one. Take two.
I'm leaving you, he said.
Ouch.
It's a wrap.
Anyone for coffee?

The Wind Is Howling
In the grate, the shivering flames
hungrily wrap their lips around logs
The boards above me creek
my wife haunting somewhere
the baby's hands reach out
wave before its sleeping eyes
The wind is howling...
The smiles on our faces as we galloped down the aisle
making sense of scattered photograph moments
but I can't remember why
can't think of anything but waiting
and doing everything...

Anatomy of Longing |LIGHT
Light
Light is the sun
that shines so bright;
light is the moon
that glows at night.

Jesus is light
and gives us hope,
for peaceful life
so we might cope.
Light is diamonds,
mesmerising;
light is the stars,
sparkle shining.
Light is sure safe,
light is pure calm;
and God the light
shields us from harm.
But don't despair
a flameless light;

In the darkest hour of the day;

That little innocent boy i was fond of, i yearn to see that child.

Unexpected
Unexpected
It was a dark and stormy day
In the pacific northwest
In other words, it was a day much like any other
Autumn leaves coating the wet streets
Fog and mist hanging just below the tops of the trees
Making the skyline look like the lost city of Avalon was appearing from the mountaintops
The soothing sounds of the rain and the river nearby, carrying the rain on its ...
