(Painting by Elijah Walton 1832-1880
Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery).
I am not sure whether
They are ascending
Or descending,
Steps cut in snow
Might indicate the latter
But I am no expert.
What I do know, is that
This was the infancy
Of Alpine climbing,
Their big hats
And long ice picks
Prove it.
Four...

In the Dark
I don't want to push you away
I could ruin everything we have
I'm scared one day you'll see it all
And then you'll leave me to fall
I'm trying so hard to be perfect
I've been fighting all my instincts
It's been better for the most part
With you here with me
The thing I do sometimes
I know they don't make sense
The way my brain ticks
I know it's hard to ac...

Who am i
The days grow old
Just wondering by
Hours ticking past
But where is my mind
When the day is done
Hours flying by
I guess I'll lay on down
Settle my mind
Hours getting longer
Sun light fades
Another sleepless night
Where am i?
Thoughts are racing
Busy days ahead
All these things
Laying heavy on my mind
With the sun fading behind t...

A wish
A wish for death
Is heard up high
All our regrets
Released in a sigh
Our wish for death
Is only a thought
Our final breaths
Leave us with nought
A wish for death
Becomes worse
When it's read
In poetry verse
A wish for death
Known to be wrong
Is only ever said
By those not strong
A wish for death
Hurts all the lovers
As it suggests
Loneliness for others
Don't w...

Regret
Sea-tinged like she was stood
on top of an ancient pirate boat
keeping her eyes open for the miltary
as she flung open the cage
in the field next to the ocean
clearly hoping that the birds would take the hint
laden in love but wavering in doubts
all the way down from her car
stopping twice barely able to carry on
but telling herself she had to silently
until she reached the edge o...

The Bloodstained Bandage
The bloodstained bandage
I can't remember the words,
The snappy headline or the clever pun,
But they must have been one
There always is, to tempt a wry smile
At the cleverness of the author
But I just remember a picture
Faint, grainy in my minds eye
Of a bloodstained bandage
I don't recall the wearer
Male, female, old, young
I suppose it didn't matter
I just remember the white cloth

Astranought
Hot heat cosmic dust hazes windshields on scorchio waydays to say
the journey fades with heat fatigue.
The quiet shaded burrow of tranquility beneath the berried hedgerow
beckons home.
Oh! To suck the oxygen off chlorophyll leaf, lick glassy dew from grassy tips,
hear birds quaver with quivering syrinx and feel my own feet upon the ground.
Memories rush in, vivid as holidays.

Words of You
Searching for you
You’re the word
On the tip of my tongue
- tip - tip – tick – tock
You’re the face on my clock
Yes!
You’re the catch in my breath
Like if I was to cough
Words of you
Would just tumble out
Like if I was to shout
Words of you
Would just rumble out
You’re built into my skull
You’re the clutch over my brain
You’re running through my veins

Pablo’s Progress
Some people christened how I’m painting cubist;
perhaps I may pursue it for a while.
There’s nothing else I’ve got on my to do list,
so maybe I’ll just call it a new style.
One portrait shows an abstract sort of image,
with body parts appearing out of place;
the critics grumble in their little scrimmage
both eyes are on the same side of her face.
But since my work...

The She in Her
“It” was quiet
“It” was still
“It” was robbed every night
“It” stayed there
“It” said nothing
In the morning
“She” was sunken
“She” was emotionless
“She” was defenseless
“She” was quiet
“She” was still
The next night
“She” became “It”
For the “She” in her had left this world
Forever
